Bankin' is one of the best-known budgeting apps in France, and it is often already on someone's phone when they discover IgniFI. The question follows: switch, keep both, or neither? The honest answer comes down to one distinction. Bankin' answers "where does my money stand this month?", by reading your bank accounts for you. IgniFI answers "where is what I do each month leading?": how much to save, when to live off one's capital, and how long the plan holds.
This article is written by IgniFI, so by an interested party. One more reason for every statement about Bankin' to point to its source, dated, and to say first what Bankin' does better.
What Bankin' does
The information below was read on 22 October 2026 on Bankin's website, its terms of use and its App Store listing, all in French (links at the end of the article). It may have changed since: Bankin's own pages are the reference.
Bank synchronisation, its strength. Bankin' connects to your banks and keeps your accounts up to date without you importing anything. Its App Store listing states more than 350 banks in four countries. Technically, according to its terms of use, two payment institutions, Bridge and Powens, connect to your banks' interfaces and pass the data on to Bankin'. This is exactly what IgniFI does not do, and nothing in IgniFI replaces that convenience: a balance that updates by itself.
Day-to-day budgeting. The App Store listing describes automatic categorisation of spending, a budget per category and a notification before going overdrawn. The terms of use also describe a transfer feature inside the app (a payment initiation service operated by Bridge or Powens).
Cashback and partners. Bankin' offers cashback with partner merchants, and presents partner offers (mortgage renegotiation, bank fees and so on) chosen from the synchronised accounts. Its "Nos engagements" page says so plainly: if you do business with a partner, that partner pays Bankin'. According to the terms of use, some transaction data is shared with the cashback partners.
Plans. The terms of use make account viewing, transfers and cashback free. The Premium page presents Bankin' Plus "from €3.33/month": savings and brokerage accounts, budget history, comparison with the previous month, custom categories, transaction export, priority support. Bankin' Pro, "from €8.33/month", adds business accounts. On the App Store, these plans are listed at €39.99 a year or €4.99 a month for Plus, and €99.99 a year or €19.99 a month for Pro.
Who publishes it. The app is published by Bankin' SAS, registered with the ACPR, the French banking supervisor, as a payment services agent of Perspecteev, the payment institution that trades as Bridge. Data is hosted in Ireland by Amazon Web Services, according to the legal notice. Bankin' reports more than four million users in Europe, and its App Store listing showed a rating of 4.7 out of 5 on the day we read it.
What IgniFI does
IgniFI starts from a different question. Knowing what came in and went out this month is the starting point; what decides a life is what those months end up building.
- The whole of one's wealth, not only the bank. PEA, assurance-vie, PER retirement plan, securities account, savings accounts, crypto, property, loans: one net worth, split by asset class. Listed investments are revalued every night, and what the search does not find (physical gold, unlisted holdings) is entered by hand.
- Several currencies, for real. Each position keeps its currency, and the whole can be shown in euros, Swiss francs, US dollars or gold. In the budget, a foreign-currency expense is converted at the rate of its month, not today's, so that the savings rate stays right.
- The budget categorises transactions from their description, every category staying editable, and measures your savings rate on your own statements.
- The FIRE date gives the month in which financial independence, retirement or a purchase is reached, at your savings pace.
- The withdrawal plan works out how much to withdraw each month, account type by account type, with the tax of each one, and replays hundreds of markets by Monte Carlo simulation to say whether the plan holds until the chosen age.
- The stress test replays the unexpected: an unexpected expense, six months without income, a crash like 2008.
- France–Switzerland cross-border workers have their own rules (canton of work, LAMal or the French scheme, 3a, 2nd pillar): the page Personal finance for France–Switzerland cross-border workers gathers them, and the app computes at their rates.
IgniFI never asks for your bank credentials. Statements are imported as CSV or Excel, read in your browser, or as PDF, analysed by an AI only after your consent; an account can also be entered by hand. IgniFI sells no financial product, shows no advertising, resells no data and recommends no investment. Its only paid link, to eToro in the copy simulator, is labelled as such on the page.

Both together, or IgniFI alone
For someone who runs their budget with Bankin', the two tools complement each other. Bankin' keeps the daily, synchronised view of current accounts; IgniFI takes the broad amounts (what is held in each account type, what is saved each month) to build the plan and put it to the test. There is no need to declare every account in it: a plan is built on the amounts that decide it. To bring the transaction history across, Bankin' offers an export on its paid plans: the guide Moving to IgniFI from another app describes what exists and how to check the totals.
For someone who would rather not hand their bank credentials to any service, IgniFI is enough on its own. Budget, net worth and performance are tracked there too, but nothing updates by itself: balances move with each import or entry. That is the price of a tool that connects to no bank, and it is the limit to know before choosing.
The choice therefore depends on the question being asked. "How much is left this month, and where did the rest go?": that is Bankin's ground, and that of the left-to-spend-per-day method. "How much can I spend later, from when, and does it hold if markets turn bad?": that is IgniFI's. The same question was asked about another well-known tool in Finary and IgniFI: the cockpit and the copilot. The demo can be explored without signing up.
Bankin' is a trademark of its publisher; IgniFI has no connection with it. This article compares public offers at a given date and is not investment advice.
