About
Who is behind IgniFI.
My name is Yannis and I am French-Swiss. I studied economics and financial engineering at university in Lausanne, then spent seven years at a commodities trading firm.
Finance and trading have interested me for a long time. So has the FIRE movement, for a simple reason: money can be earned back, time cannot.
Why IgniFI
Because I had had enough of tracking my investments in a spreadsheet. Things forgotten, typos, biases, rounding: after a while you no longer really know where you stand. That is exactly what I wanted to stop, for myself first and then for you.
Reaching a financial goal, whatever it is, is something you build. But you have to start from accurate figures. That is all IgniFI is trying to do: give you an exact view of what you own and how it is changing.
Coaching
This is the human part, in the age of AI. The point is not to tell you what to buy, but to spare you the mistakes I made, and to think through a way of managing your money that fits you. Tailored, in other words.
This is not investment advice. Neither IgniFI nor the coaching recommends any investment, product or intermediary. These are tracking tools and a way of thinking about how you manage your money. Investment decisions remain yours, and past performance does not predict future results.
What we believe
A few uncomfortable truths that are easier to face with the math in front of you.
Your retirement is on you now
State pensions are stretched thinner every year as people live longer and fewer workers fund them. Relying on them alone is a bet on demographics that already turned. The sooner you see your own numbers, the more options you keep open.
Your brain rounds in your favor
We all think we save enough, spend reasonably, and pick decent investments. The numbers often say otherwise. IgniFI just lays out the math. It has no ego to defend and nothing to sell you, so it won't flatter a plan that doesn't add up.
Bricks aren't the only path
For a lot of people under 40, buying property where they live stopped being realistic. That doesn't mean wealth is off the table. Index funds, retirement accounts and steady investing build net worth too, and IgniFI helps you plan and track that route without ever sitting in a notary's office.
A second opinion with no commission
Banks and some advisors get paid on what they sell you, not on whether you come out ahead. Quietly expensive products are common, and the headlines about scandals keep coming. IgniFI is somewhere to check a recommendation against your real numbers before you sign, and sometimes to confirm the advice was actually sound.
The questions people ask themselves
The tool
Why is it so cheap?
A low price beats free precisely because it keeps IgniFI honest. Free tools have to make their money some other way: ads, selling your data, broker kickbacks, nudges to trade. Here you're the customer, not the product. Concretely, the subscription covers the servers and the AI processing (parsing your PDFs carries a real, non-negligible cost), and yes, it is also income for its founder - might as well say it plainly. That's what lets us keep supporting the tool and growing it over time. IgniFI was built by someone who reached financial independence before 40, to pass on what works. We keep the price low enough that the tool always pays for itself many times over, and real enough that we never have to sell ads or data.
Can IgniFI replace my financial advisor?
No, and it isn't trying to. Think of it as a way to see your real numbers and pressure-test what you are told. Plenty of advice is good. Some of it mainly serves the person giving it. IgniFI helps you tell the difference before you commit.
I can't afford to buy property. Is this still for me?
Yes. Real estate is one route to building wealth, not the only one. IgniFI is built around tracking and growing your net worth through investments, savings and retirement accounts, whether or not you ever buy a home.
Does IgniFI push any particular investment?
No. We don't sell funds, take commissions, or have partners paying for placement. The tool shows your numbers and the trade-offs honestly. What you do with them is your call.
And you
I don't have time for this.
The number one reason, and a fair one: nobody wants to spend their evenings in a spreadsheet. IgniFI is built for the opposite. One file import to start, then a few minutes a month to update a balance. Everything else - prices, conversions, projections - recalculates itself. If the tool asks more of you than that, it is our problem, not yours.
I'm already doing better than most people. Is it worth it?
Maybe, maybe not. That is exactly what the INSEE comparison tells you in thirty seconds, with a checkable figure instead of an impression. It also tells you what stands between you and the next rung, which is a different piece of information: “better than average” is not a destination, it is a point on a curve.
I read and I learn, but I never act.
Usually because the next action is not clear. Seeing your real figures in one place does not motivate by magic, but it does replace “I should get to it” with “here is what's missing”. IgniFI will never tell you what to buy - that is not our role and we are not licensed for it. What it does is show you what you hold, what it costs and where it leads.
If it were that simple, everyone would do it. Too good to be true?
Good question, and the right instinct. So let us be clear about what IgniFI is not: we promise no returns, sell no investment product, take no commission and have no financial partners. We sell a subscription, that is all, and that is precisely why we have no reason to push you towards anything. A free tool funded by commissions would.
I'm afraid of seeing my real numbers.
More common than people admit, and the figure is usually less bad than imagined - the uncertainty weighs more than the amount. Nothing is shared, nothing is sold, nothing is sent to your bank: your data stays encrypted and you can delete all of it in one click. You can also start with a single account and stop there.
I'm cautious, and that is what got me here.
And that is probably true. IgniFI will not ask you to be less so. What it does is put a number on what caution costs and what it protects: how many years your capital lasts, what a crash would do to it, what inflation takes out. With both figures in front of you, you are the one deciding - not us, and not somebody with a product to sell.
My parents have almost nothing put aside. One day, I'll be the one paying.
You are far from alone, and in France it is not only a matter of the heart: when a parent cannot pay for a care home and applies for social aid, the local authority (the département) can ask their children to contribute (the "obligation alimentaire", a legal duty to support one's parents). The hard part is that nobody knows when, or how much. IgniFI won't guess for you. It lets you create a "Supporting a parent" goal: an amount, a deadline if you have one, a monthly effort you follow like everything else, and, if you like, linked to the account where that money waits. If you are already planning your own financial independence, the withdrawal plan can also include a one-off family expense in its projections. These are your numbers, not advice.
